Hokm · حکم
Iran's favourite card game, with ZIBADIS's own Iranian deck: you and a computer partner against two computer players.
Rules of Hokm
Teams
You sit south with your partner north; the computer plays east and west.
The hakem
The hakem (ruler) sees five cards first and chooses the trump suit, the hokm.
Tricks
Everyone must follow the suit that was led if they can. The highest trump wins the trick; if no trump was played, the highest card of the led suit wins.
Winning a hand
The first team to take 7 of the 13 tricks wins the hand. Winning 7–0 (a kot) scores 2, or 3 if the hakem's team was shut out.
The match
The first team to 7 points wins. If the hakem's team loses a hand, the next player becomes hakem.
The deck
Suits are pomegranate and toranj (red), cypress and paisley (navy); the pahlavan, banu and chapar replace king, queen and jack.
